A large book lays on its side, with golden letters engraved on it's edge. Although, the letters are worn one can faintly make out the outline of Stephen's name. It certainly showed its age, yet it also gave way to a lifetime of endearment and care. With the pages seemingly opening themselves. There's just one question, will you look inside?

Plus, it helps keep my layout from constantly changing because of how long some of the comments would be. Either way though thank you for reading this and have a good day. Don't be afraid to shoot me either a ic or ooc message sometime. I'd love to see people interact with this guy! ₍՞◌′ᵕ‵ू◌₎♡

omg it's sherlock- i'm your biggest fan
it was no secret that stephen had a dislike towards his hands - once dexterous and capable of amazing feats (well, that part was still true), the appendages were now scarred and shaky, sensitive and unable to do even the simplest tasks, such as writing, or things that required precision, like playing an instrument. to her, it was very understandable for him to even abhor his hands, she honestly would have been surprised if he didn't once she heard of his life prior to the incident, yet it still saddened her all the same each time he would accidentally hurt himself or curse his fists. neither of the two were uncommon occurrences, especially the first, so it truly was no surprise when she heard him causing a commotion in the next room and grumbling - while it was inaudible through the walls, she was pretty positive that she knew just what it was over.
" i take it.. something isn't going the way you'd like? " she finished tentatively, unsure of how exactly to word the inquiry. there was no point in asking if he was alright or if something was wrong, the answer to those was obvious, but it was difficult to ask about the situation without mentioning his hands or that he couldn't do whatever the task was. her voice is soft, tone sympathetic and caring not only out of genuine emotion but also in hope of calming him or assuaging at least a little or his agitation - she isn't in any mood to hear yelling, or be yelled at, especially with how nasty he could be when angry.
she walked slowly from the doorway towards the table, nervously wringing her hands at her waist - a gesture she does without thinking, without even realizing it. once she reached his chair, she knelt beside it, looking up at him with a frown. " what happened? " mariona asked, turning her head to study the various objects knocked off of the surface - papers, mostly, though she can't spot a vase and suppresses a sigh at the thought of it being broken.
the concept of magic was nothing new to her, though his practice wasn't one she was entirely familiar with; her knowledge and use was more witchcraft-based, but his was definitely more deserving of the title "magic". from the moment she had seen him produce even the smallest spark, she was immediately fascinated, and of course wanted to learn just what this was, how he was doing it, and if she could do it, too. upon learning that, while he was a natural at this, he learned it all from books (lessons too, of course), she's ecstatic that it isn't some sort of bestowed power or genetic thing or the like. to know that maybe she could be capable of anything he could do is exciting, even though actually doing it is easier said than done.
" stephen? " her head rested on her hands, eyes fixated on the various glowing shapes and objects that he created before her with seeming ease. " do you think you could.. teach me? teach me how to do that - not that in specific, just something small or simple. or even just let me take a look at one of the books that talk about it. " she was nervous to ask such of him, if that weren't evident enough in the heat of her cheeks or rushing of her words.
